Pirates Spoil Lady Spartans Season Opener
Germantown, OH (August 27, 2005)— The Pirates scored their only goal on a shot that was just a fingertip away from goalie Karlee Blosser's outstretched hand and then went on to hold the Spartans scoreless, spoiling Valley View's season opener, 1-0.
West Carrollton scored at the 12:35 mark in the first half in a game that was more about the calls that didn't get made than the ones that did. Handicapped by poor officiating (that even saw a W. Carrollton parent ejected from Barker Field), the Spartans outshot the Pirates in the second half, but continually came up short.
A super defensive effort by the Spartan squad kept West Carrollton pinned to their side of the field most of the second half.
