Howard Scores Nineteen in Losing Effort
Germantown, OH (January 7, 2006)— The Waynesville Spartans jumped out to a 22-9 first quarter lead, on the strength of five, three-point goals, to down the hometown Spartans, 63-51, in a cross-divisional matchup.
Valley View made it a game most of the way, outscoring Waynesville 17-9 and 16-12 respectively in the second and third periods, to give them a one point margin at the end of the third quarter, 42-43. The Spartans tthen took the lead, 44-43, at the 7:20 mark before self destructing as Waynesville went on a 13-0 uncontested shooting spree.
The Spartans wouldn't score again until 2:17 remained in the game, when Mitch Howard (19 points) broke the scoring drought, with a three-pointer of his own. By then it was too late.
Valley View drops to 1-6 overall, while Waynesville improves to 7-3. The Spartans remain at home this week with three games against Oakwood (5-1, 1-1), Milton-Union (4-5, 1-2), and Madison (3-5, 1-3).
