Waynesville Shooter Hits 1000 Career Points
Germantown, OH (January 29, 2005)— Waynesville's Aleshia Bors reached the 1000 mark in scoring, downing the hometown Spartans 61-30 in the process, sending them to their worst defeat of the season. Bors came into the game just nine points shy of the 1000 career mark.
"After I got seven (points), it seemed like I just couldn't get that last shot. I'm pretty happy," beamed the 5-11 senior, as she clutched the game ball in her arms.
But it wasn't just Bors that put the hurt on the Lady Spartans. A team high 23 turnovers, 20 of those in the first half, and a lone, 3 point shot in the second quarter by Coryn Ritze, helped dig a hole that became to deep to recover from.
"I thought we'd play better after the tremendous effort we displayed against Bellbrook. We just weren't ready to play," commented coach Steve Dickson. "We just fell asleep today."
The Spartans will need to wake up before their next contest against Milton-Union. The Bulldogs will be looking for a shot at the number two spot by knocking off the Spartans and avenging an earlier 45-27 drubbing coming off of the Christmas holiday
"We didn't play to the level that we're used to playing. That just about sums it up," Dickson stated. "They'll be ready for Milton."
