Valley Grabs Season's Fifth Win
Dayton, OH (February 5, 2005)— Elliot Boyd nailed the bonus shot after being fouled with 25 seconds remaining, to put the game out of reach for the Northridge Polar Bears and sealing the Spartans fifth victory of the season, 59-50.
The Spartans led most of the way when, with 56 seconds left to play, Northridge pulled within two points, erasing most of an 11 point deficit throughout the game.
The last minute of the game had the Polar Bears in desparate need of the ball, forcing their first foul against Dunaway, then Deaton, before setting up the icing on the cake with the Boyd free throw.
Valley View finishes the season with two games on the road, first with a Tuesday game against Eaton (2-14) and then finish out with Preble-Shawnee (7-10) before a first-round, tournament opener against Chaminade-Julienne on Feb. 18.
