Resolution 2002-01

A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING KAIMRI, INDIA, AS A SISTER VILLAGE TO THE VILLAGE OF FARMERSVILLE, OHIO.

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Village of Farmersville, Ohio, to join with other communities to promote a better understanding of other people's customs and religions, to participate in educational and youth exchanges, and to develop and share municipal technical and professional knowledge; and

WHEREAS, it is hoped that such exchanges will develop more personal visits between citizens from both communities, enable our village to establish an open dialogue to find unique solutions to improving the quality of life and help us to better understand our own community by interpreting our way of life to people of another culture; and

WHEREAS, our Sister Village endeavor is a grassroots effort as a means of providing meaningful exchanges between Americans and the people of other lands; and

WHEREAS, our Sister Village effort is committed to the goal of enhancing international understanding and cooperation, and encouraging relationships between communities in the United States and communities in other countries; and

WHEREAS, the Planning Committee has made a recommendation to the Council of the Village of Farmersville, Ohio, and Council has stated its support of the concept of the Sister Village effort and its goals.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF FARMERSVILLE, OHIO THAT:

SECTION ONE: The Village of Farmersville, Ohio, hereby officially acknowledges its affiliation with Kaimri, India, as a sister village, joining together to enhance mutual understanding and to share cultural heritages.

SECTION TWO: This resolution shall take full force and effect immediately after its passage.
