If you came here looking for Charlotte Martin or RVIVR lyrics, videos, or mp3s for their song Cut the Cord, then you’re wrong place at the right time. This is about getting rid of cable TV. Or satellite TV. Both cable and satellite television are too expensive. Maybe one more than the other, but for the channels that you really watch you pay an astronomical price per channel. Forget that you have  [ Read More ]

or, as I like to call it, Password Hack-a-torial. Lots of our customers trust us with their passwords.  And they should. We’re a very trustworthy company.  We store all of that confidential information in an application that uses a state-of-the-art encryption algorithm. The application uses 128-bit keys for encryption, which means it would take millions of years for a criminal to decrypt the data using a “brute force” attack. But,  [ Read More ]

Two amazing things happened this week. Time Warner Wideband Internet This is massive bandwidth. 50 mbps download speeds, and 5 mbps upload. Why would one need such fast Internet and especially in their house? Because it’s freakin’ fast, man. I’m a big Internet consumer. My work centers around being connected. And in the process, everything in my house, that’s a computer, is connected. The TiVos are constantly talking across the  [ Read More ]

There are probably more than a dozen excuses for why there hasn’t been a blog post for months. Most notably at the top, is the travel. Every other week from Jan 17 to May 13. Braved tornadoes in Alabama during that period. You would think that would be something to write about. Suppose, the weather could be blamed for not being in the writing zone. You should actually just blame  [ Read More ]

A couple of things that I had forgot about France, but then immediately remembered after the first walk around Toulouse: If you are old enough to not be pushed in a stroller, then you smoke. Everyone owns a dog. Everyone takes their dog with them every where they go.  Church, grocery, restaurant. You go, then dog goes too. One thing that you never forget about France. Food. Food is more amazing in  [ Read More ]

Kick 'em when they're up, Kick 'em when they're down.

I spent the week in Detroit. Besides being bitterly cold, the hotel had some of the worst bandwidth a wired or wireless connection could provide. In the end, I used the HTC to stream Netflix without any hiccups. Thank you T-Mobile. Thank you Android. Of course just like every other hotel in the world, I was asked to help them Stay: Green by recycling my linens and towels. A reasonable  [ Read More ]

Taking It To The Streets

Arc de Triomphe

Paris is one of my favorite cities  in the world. There are something like 11 million plus people in the metropolitan area and you can tell. The streets and subways are always jammed packed with people. In the span of 3 years, I think I was in Paris at least twice each year. If you understand subways and trains it’s really easy to get around and the people are beautiful  [ Read More ]

We All Live In A Yellow Submarine

Yellow Submarine

For the past year, I’ve been working for clean water and energy, helping to find a cure for muscular dystrophy and fighting childhood cancer.  But I’m not a hero, nor have I exerted much energy. I did it all from the comfort of my office. And all with just a spare computer. At the Valley View Online World Headquarters, there are generally five or six computers running at any one  [ Read More ]

I Could Be In Love My Android Phone

Android Man

I spent the week in Huntsville, AL where the week before they experienced 12 inches of snow. While for the rest of us up north, that kind of event occurs with greater frequency so we’re not inclined to be still be talking about it a week later.  What the hell does this have to do with my Android phone? Two things. Maybe three. One: I always thought that my Blackberry  [ Read More ]
