Armed Forces Night During Spartan Home Opener

Posted by Mike Dowden On August - 25 - 2009     ADD COMMENTS

As another September 11th approaches let us not forget that frightful day when all Americans came to realize how much we enjoy our freedom and security.  On Friday August 28th at the Dunbar vs. Valley View game, the Valley View Athletic Booster Club (VAAB) will be hosting Armed Forces Appreciation Night in support of the Cares & Prayers program established by Advantage Bank of Germantown.

The Valley View Athletic Boosters (VVAB) would like to take this opportunity to thank Valley View graduates and community members that have served their country.

Please bring non-perishable items to the game for donation to our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.  Collection boxes will be set up at the game.   Items of specific need are; Beef jerky, granola bars, powdered individual size drink mixes, nuts, pretzels, candy, cookies, batteries, baby wipes, eye drops, Q-tips, foot powder, tuna and chicken pouches, and letters of support, etc.

This is an opportunity to honor and support the courageous men and women who are putting themselves in harms way to ensure that we can continue to enjoy our homeland security. The Athletic Boosters invite all members of the Armed Forces to attend this special event in their honor. Please submit your Service Member to Samantha Davis for recognition that evening.

The Athletic Boosters also ask that you help them support Advantage Bank’s Cares and Prayers Drive in their effort to support our troops.

First Year Cornhole Tournament A Success

Posted by Mike Dowden On August - 24 - 2009     ADD COMMENTS

Fifteen teams, from across the Miami Valley,  competed Saturday morning in the First Annual Cornhole Tournament  hosted by the Valley View Athletic Boosters (VVAB).  Participants enjoyed play on quality cornhole sets and free tee shirts provided by the tournament sponsor Cornhole.com.

The Dan’s, a father and son team from West Alexanderia,  swept their pool and remained in the winners bracket to the final game. The Natie Boyz,  buddies from Cincinnati, gave  the local tea a run for the money, coming back from the losers bracket, to win the first game of the championship round.

The Dan’s held strong to avoid elimination to take the first-ever VVAB-sponsored event.  Trophies, supplied by Cornhole.com, and a $500 prize were presented to the The Dan’s by Booster President Larry Davis for their first place finish.  A new cornhole set, valued at $250 was awarded to the runners up, The Nati Boyz.
