Valley View’s Rebecca Kurtz signed her National Letter of Intent to play soccer at Indiana Tech this past Thursday, April 23.
On hand for the signing were Kurtz’s parents, Mike and Holly Kurtz and Indiana Tech coach, James Lipocky.
A member of the NAIA Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Converence, the Warriors were 4-13-1 overall in 2008.
Coach Lipocky, who will be entering his second season with the Warriors, looks at 2008 as a building year.
Along with Kurtz, Lipocky also signed Aubree Reichel, from Weisbaden High School in Germany and Ashley Burns of Tippecanoe.
“These new players will bring some depth to our 2009 squad”, commented Lipocky.
Kurtz, who played on the Junior Varsity squad her freshman year, played back her sophomore season before being switched over to outside wing during her junior year. Kurtz missed her entire senior season recovering from a torn ACL she suffered in spring game.
Head coach, Jeff Stiver noted, “Last year we moved her from the back to an outside wing position about half way through our season. I personally think she’s best in the back, but she certainly does possess versatility. She has pretty good speed and quickness and is extremely strong.”
Also in attendance at the signing were Asst. Coach, Kirk Bell, and Tom Elias, Area Director for College Prospects of America.
